It's arrived!

So I just got the catalog in the mail yesterday! The printing turned out really well, LuLu did such a great job. Now it's time to get back to preparing for the Illustration and Animation Showcase. Ack, only one week left until we're released into the real world!!

i'm in love

I can't believe I've never been to face hunter before. It has absolutely incredible photos of some of the most fabulous outfits I've ever seen. Kind of a FoundPhotos sort of feel. Check check it.

Also, an update on the catalog. Finished all the pages today. It is really crazy to think about doing all these pieces in the span of three months. I still need to set the type and have it printed. Keep your fingers crossed that it will be in my hands by the MICA Illustration Showcase on May 3rd...

catalog progress

To recap--for my last semester of senior year, I'm producing a catalog composed entirely of illustrations. The clothing featured is from the "Landed Gentry" collection designed by Free People. Here are some highlight pieces from the catalog so far.

i am like a detective now

So while I was researching Victorian and Edwardian fashion plates for this catalog I came across a collection of really beautiful plates, but the site I found them at could only identify the artist as "Drioz (?)" After looking up "Drioz" everywhere I could without any luck, I just figured I'd never find out any more information. But after looking up the Catalog Parisien tonight, I came across this site, which directed me to the art of Etienne Drian.

When I saw this image, I knew I'd found my mysterious, fabulous fashion illustrator, because it was one of the pieces that "Drioz" was credited with on this one website. And if you think about it, "Drioz" and "Drian" do look kind of similar when they're written out in cursive. So I'm all proud of myself for finding some more work (not to mention the real name!) of this great illustrator. Hooray for you, Etienne Drian. You rock.

i really am doing work, believe me

My thesis is coming along well, I've penciled all 32 images for the catalog and have only a few more pages to ink. Then all that's left is to color and print it! How exciting!

I'm using this image for my first ever set of postcards... If you've seen them, I hope you liked them. If you haven't, well you should ask me for one!

eternal sunshine of the spotless hard drive

So yeah, it's taken me a while to get the will to draw on the computer again. I drew these like two weeks ago, they're the first things I've made digitally since the great erasure. I don't care if anyone likes them.

last semester

I let my thesis last semester get really off-track, so for this coming semester I'm going to get really structured again and do more fashion illustration to put in my portfolio. The plan is to illustrate a catalog, like they did back in the day.

Thanks to this site and this site for the images.

finally updating again

It's been a couple months since I've updated. My hard drive was wiped out and I've been too busy to scan my new work. By the time I get the hardware back in business and my finals out of the way, I'll have a larger update.

In the mean time, a part of a series I'm working on:

mierda

I was gonna share with you the sketches I did during midterm crits, but my scanner collapsed after one picture, the piece of shit.

I cropped one portrait out of this one because I didn't make her look as lovely as she actually is.

In case you didn't know, Noel Murray is my hero.
I've been thinking about autobiographical comics and I might write something about it up here pretty soon. So you know, look out.
